Rent a Track Car at Daytona Road Course
Daytona Beach, FL — The World Center of Racing Has a Road Course
Everyone knows Daytona for the 500. Restrictor plates, three-wide drafting, February drama on the high banks. But tucked inside that 2.5-mile tri-oval is a 3.56-mile road course that threads through the infield and then launches you onto 31 degrees of banking at speeds that will rearrange your understanding of what "fast" feels like.
You can drive it. Hot Lap Rentals is expanding into Florida events, and the Daytona road course is on the radar.
The Track
The Daytona International Speedway sports car road course is 3.56 miles with 12 turns. The layout uses an infield road course section connected to portions of the high-banked oval — so in a single lap, you go from tight, flat, technical infield corners to absolutely ripping across banking that was designed for 200 mph stock cars.
The infield section is where the driving happens. Turns 1 through 6 are flat, technical corners requiring heavy braking and precise inputs. Turn 1 is a sweeping left-hander where you drop from banking speeds to around 70 mph in a hurry — one of the heaviest braking zones on any road course in the country. The International Horseshoe (Turn 3) is a slow, flat right-hander where patience off the brake matters. Turns 4 and 5 are quick direction changes where you're working through the gears.
Then you exit Turn 6 and rejoin the oval. This is where Daytona becomes Daytona. The 31-degree banking in what would normally be Turns 1 and 2 of the oval hits you at full song. If you've never experienced banking this steep at speed, it's a physical sensation — the g-forces push you into the seat in a way that flat tracks simply can't replicate. Your car feels planted in a way that defies the speed readout.
After the banking, you cross back through the infield before rejoining the oval section for the run to the start/finish line. The transition between the flat infield and the banked oval is one of the most unique driving experiences in American motorsport.
The 24 Hours of Daytona, the Rolex 24, IMSA — this road course has hosted some of the greatest endurance racing in history. And because the facility is NASCAR's flagship property, the infrastructure is world-class. This isn't a scrappy club track. It's the World Center of Racing, and it feels like it.
Why Rent?
Daytona hosts HPDE events through various organizations throughout the year, and the road course is available for club events and track days outside of the major professional race weekends. But it's a destination track for most drivers — central Florida, about 50 miles north of Orlando.
Renting a track car means you can fly into Daytona Beach (DAB) or Orlando (MCO) and be on track without trailering anything. The banking sections put unique loads on the car — sustained high-speed cornering forces that are harder on tires, wheel bearings, and cooling systems than a typical road course. A car that's prepped for this environment makes a material difference.

Insurance
The banking at Daytona creates forces that most street cars — and many track cars — aren't designed for. If something goes wrong at speed on the oval sections, the consequences are expensive. Track day insurance is non-negotiable here.
Providers like Hagerty, Traction Insurance, OpenTrack, and Lockton Motorsports cover events at Daytona. Read our track day insurance guide before you go.
Getting There
Daytona International Speedway 1801 W International Speedway Blvd Daytona Beach, FL 32114
About 50 miles northeast of Orlando. Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB) is literally adjacent to the speedway property. Orlando International (MCO) is about an hour south.
The facility is massive — 180 acres — and well-organized for events. If you've been to a NASCAR race here, you know the infrastructure. If you haven't, it's a step above most track day venues in terms of amenities, parking, and paddock space.
