Hot Lap Rentals: Connecting Drivers with the Cars They Want to Drive

It started with a trip to Colorado.
Linden and I were headed to a Time Trials event and I wanted to find a prepped track car to drive in it. We searched Facebook groups, scrolled through forums, sent messages to people who may or may not still have a car available. We almost found one — but by the time a lead came together, we'd already decided to just go and be crew for the day. A whole trip built around driving, and we ended up on the other side of the wall.
That frustration is what started Hot Lap Rentals.
The problem is simple: there's no centralized place to find track car rentals or race seats.
Thousands of track-prepped cars sit in garages between events. Race teams run endurance races with empty seats they can't fill. Driving schools struggle to get in front of new customers. And on the other side, there are drivers at every level — from the person who's always wanted to try a track day to the experienced club racer looking for a seat at Sebring — who can't find what's available.
The information is out there. It's just scattered across Facebook groups, word-of-mouth networks, and random forum posts that get buried in a day.
Hot Lap Rentals is building the marketplace to fix that.
We're a platform purpose-built for the grassroots motorsport community in the Southeast. Car owners list their track cars. Race teams and arrive-and-drive providers post available seats. Drivers browse and connect directly with the person who has the car.
No middleman fees. No commission. Owners list for free and keep 100% of what they earn. We believe that removing friction from the connection is what grows the community — not taking a cut of every transaction.
We're not building an exotic car joyride company. This isn't about putting someone in a Lamborghini for three laps with an instructor holding the wheel. This is about real track cars, real events, and real connections between enthusiasts. Spec Miatas at Road Atlanta. GT3 Cup cars at VIR. ChampCar endurance seats at Barber. The grassroots stuff that makes motorsport great.
Where we're headed: Experience Packages
The car listings and race seat marketplace are the foundation. But we see a bigger opportunity in curated experiences — and that's where partnerships with teams, track day organizers, and driving schools come in.
The idea is straightforward: partner with established operators like race teams, arrive-and-drive providers, and driving schools to create packaged track day experiences. A partner brings the cars, the event, and the expertise. Hot Lap Rentals brings the audience — the people actively searching for exactly this kind of opportunity.
Think of it as a discovery and lead generation layer for the people who can actually put someone behind the wheel of an awesome car. A driver searching "track day experience Road Atlanta" finds a curated package page on Hot Lap Rentals, sees what's included, what it costs, and can express interest or book directly with the partner.
This solves the chicken-and-egg problem that every marketplace faces. Instead of waiting for supply and demand to find each other organically, we partner with operators who already have inventory and help them reach a wider audience. The partners get leads and bookings. The drivers get a clear path from "I want to do this" to actually being on track. Everybody wins.
Building a community, not just a directory
The long game for Hot Lap Rentals isn't just listings. It's becoming the place where people who want to drive find the people who can make it happen. We're investing in educational content — track guides, HPDE season previews, beginner resources — because we know that lowering the barrier to entry grows the entire pie. More people on track means more demand for rentals, more filled race seats, and a stronger community for everyone.
The Southeast motorsport scene is packed with talent, tracks, and passion. Road Atlanta, Barber Motorsports Park, VIR, Sebring, Daytona, Charlotte — these are world-class circuits with active communities around them. What's been missing is a central hub that connects all of it. That's what we're building.
The short version: Hot Lap Rentals is a free, community-driven marketplace for track car rentals and race seats in the Southeast. We're growing by partnering with the teams, schools, and organizers who already put people in cars — and making it easier for drivers at every level to find them.
