Rent a Track Car at Barber Motorsports Park
Birmingham, AL — The Augusta National of Motorsports
There's a reason people call Barber the Augusta National of motorsports. The grounds are immaculate. The elevation changes are relentless. And there's a 40-foot spider sculpture staring at you while you try to nail Turn 5.
You don't need to own a track car to experience it. Hot Lap Rentals connects you with track-prepped cars available for rent at Barber Motorsports Park through JZILLA Track Days.
The Track
Barber's road course is 2.38 miles with 16 turns (some sources say 17 — depends on how you count the corkscrew). Designed by Alan Wilson and opened in 2003, it sits on 880 acres of beautifully landscaped Alabama hillside that looks more like a sculpture garden than a racetrack. Because it literally is a sculpture garden.
The layout is compact but relentless. There are almost no straight-line rest areas — you're always turning, always managing elevation, always working. The surface is one of the smoothest in North American racing, which sounds nice until you realize it means every tenth of a second comes down to you, not the car skipping over bumps.
Turn 1 is a deceptive downhill left-hander that sets the tone for the whole lap. Get greedy on entry and you'll understeer through the exit and compromise the entire Turn 2 carousel — a long, commitment-level right-hander where patience on throttle is everything.
Then there's Charlotte's Web (Turns 5-6), named after the giant spider sculpture in the infield. It's one of the best passing opportunities on the circuit and one of the most satisfying corners to get right. The braking zone drops downhill, and gravity is not your friend.
The corkscrew through Turns 7-9 is where Barber shows its teeth — a downhill sequence where you're increasing brake pressure as the track falls away. It rewards smooth inputs and punishes panic.
Up to 190 feet of elevation change across the lap. Every corner sets up the next one. If you like technical, flow-state driving, Barber is your track.
Why Rent?
Barber is a destination track. It's not a place you casually pop into on a weekday — most drivers are traveling for events, which makes the logistics of trailering your own car even more of a hassle.
Renting a JZILLA track car means you fly in (or drive in light), show up to the paddock, sign your rental contract on your phone, and you're on track. No trailer, no tow vehicle, no spending the night before bleeding brakes in a hotel parking lot.
The cars in the JZILLA fleet are prepped for this. They live the track day life. Cooling systems that can handle Alabama heat. Brakes that don't care about your third session. Suspension tuned for actual circuit use, not Instagram ride height.
What's Available
The current JZILLA fleet is on our vehicle listings page. Availability depends on the event, but the lineup is curated for cars that are actually fun on a technical track like Barber — where chassis balance and driver engagement matter more than peak horsepower.
