Rent a Track Car at Roebling Road Raceway
Bloomingdale, GA — The Southeast's Best-Kept Secret
Roebling Road doesn't have grandstands. It doesn't have a jumbotron. It doesn't even let spectators in. What it does have is 2.02 miles of fast, flowing tarmac draped in Spanish moss, ten minutes from I-95, and some of the best HPDE events in the Southeast on a calendar that runs over 300 days a year.
If Road Atlanta is the headliner and Barber is the postcard, Roebling Road is the local's track — the place where you actually learn to drive fast. Hot Lap Rentals is expanding to connect you with rental cars at events across the Southeast, including Roebling.
The Track
Roebling Road Raceway is 2.02 miles with 9 turns. Originally opened in 1959 as Savannah International Raceway, it sits on land outside Bloomingdale, Georgia, just a short drive from downtown Savannah. The track was repaved in 2022, giving it a smooth, grippy surface that's a significant upgrade from the abrasive original pavement that used to eat tires.
Nine turns doesn't sound like much until you drive them. The layout is deceptively fast — long straights leading into corners that demand you carry speed, a reducing-radius turn that tightens on you mid-corner, and an off-camber section that punishes anyone who hasn't learned what "the car is telling you something" means.
The beauty of Roebling is the rhythm. It's a flowing track where each corner sets up the next one. Get into a groove and the lap times come down steadily. It's not a track that beats you up — it's a track that teaches you. Huge run-off areas and only a single wall on the entire circuit mean that mistakes are forgiving. Your ego takes the hit, not your fender.
This is why Roebling is the track where so many Southeast drivers learn to drive. The SCCA's Buccaneer Region owns the track outright — it's one of the only circuits in the country owned by a local racing club. That means the schedule is packed with driver education events, club races, time trials, and testing days from every organization you can think of: SCCA, NASA, PCA, BMW CCA, and many more.
PBS's MotorWeek records its winter track-testing segments here. That's not an accident — the combination of good surface, consistent weather, and low-key atmosphere makes it a favorite for anyone who needs clean data and focused seat time.
Why Rent?
Roebling's schedule runs year-round, and the variety of hosting organizations means there's usually an event within any given two-week window. It's also one of the most approachable tracks in the region for a first-timer — forgiving run-offs, reasonable speeds, and a layout that rewards learning rather than punishing mistakes.
If you don't have a track car, renting one lets you skip the prep work and show up ready to drive. A track-prepped car at Roebling means you're getting the full experience of a car that's set up for circuit use — proper brake fluid, good pads, tires with actual grip, and a chassis that can handle consecutive hot laps without overheating.
Plus, you're 11 miles from downtown Savannah. Turn your track day into a weekend — drive in the morning, eat your weight in shrimp and grits in the evening.
